Tefilla Halacha

The berachah of Hamapil is said only at night.

  • If one goes to sleep, even for the night, when it is still daytime, e.g. a child or a woman, or a man who is ill (because otherwise he must be up at night to daven maariv), the berachah is not said.
  • If one goes to sleep after alos, the berachah should not be said.
  • If one goes to sleep just before alos, and estimates that he will not sleep before alos, the berachah should not be said.
